The Encasing
The encasing for Tutankhamun consisted of a single block of red quartzite with a granite lid. The granite lid, when found was already broken. This was most likely because tomb raiders. The encasing was a rectangular shape, measuring approximately 3m high by 1.7m wide by 3m long. Encasing of the coffin implemented to protect the sarcophagus inner treasures. On the encasing were the gods Osiris, Wadjet and Nekhbet carved onto the stone slab.

The SarcophagusThe sarcophagus consisted of three layers of sarcophagi, with the top two layers as wood. The innermost coffin was made of solid gold weighing 110.4kg. The gold coffin was covered in a layer of gold paint which thickened as it approached the face. He was holding a crook and a flail. The crook meant that the leader was caring and a Sheppard to his people while the flail symbolized the cruelty needed to maintain a civilization.

The Wrapping
Tutankhamun was mummified like any other Pharaohs. He was wrapped in strips of linen covering the whole body. Gum was smeared on the underside of the linen. This was commonly used as glue in the ancient Egyptian times. On top of the wrappings was King Tuts notorious mask. This mask was made up by precious gems and stones including gold, lapis lazuli, quartz, obsidian, turquoise and glass.

The Mummy
People believe that the uncovering of Tutankhamuns tomb was performed two fast as some limbs were amputated while removing the wrapping. Many came to question the archeologists skill who were working on king Tut' body. King Tut was only 28 when he died from malaria, scientists examining the remains found signs of damaged cartilage and typical traits of a malaria death. They also discovered King Tut had a clubbed led and needed a can to walk. On King Tuts body archeologist uncovered 107 items. These items included rings, bracelets, necklaces, amulets etc... Egyptians believed these objects to have magical powers that would help king tut in the afterlife.
